![]() ![]() You have to level up your units * and the right units * to progress through a campaign. It's the same with Wesnoth, it's how the game works. You have to upgrade or buy a faster car eventually. When you're playing a racing game like NFS, you can't expect to win the game using your starter car without upgrades till the end of the game. I feel you completely, having rage quit many times myself but imo you should give Battle for Wesnoth another try.įirstly, look at it this way. I know this is a 3yo thread, but I'd like to chime still. Besides, you've passed the newbie-killer scenario ( The Siege of Elensefar), so you can probably win the campaign :) There are only so many game mechanics to learn, and the tutorial and the beginner campaigns cover them (HttT isn't a beginner campaign, though it was classified like that 7 years ago when you played it). You overlooked the recall mechanic the first time, but you know it now, and it's not like you'll have to learn about new mechanics every Tuesday. I suggest that you give the game another chance. Restarting a campaign is not enjoyable so you're not expected to do that.) What it boils down to is that once you know the game mechanics you shouldn't need to restart a scenario unless you had extremely bad luck, want to try a different strategy, or are playing at a very high difficulty, and should never need to restart a campaign. This is just a game mechanic that you're expected to use, like time of day, zone of control, and ranged attacks.Ībout restarts in general, there's this (especially, but the topic just after that one is relevant too). The tutorial teaches you to do that, and campaigns are balanced on the assumption that you do that, especially at higher difficulties. In general, yes, you should be advancing and recalling units. That scenario is intended be very difficult and inflict severe losses, including losses of leveled units, even when the campaign is played expertly. The three undead bosses thing sounds like the ninth scenario, The Valley of Death. ![]()
